Well. That's a new one.

Mm, quite the unusual origin, I will admit.
However, not quite as unusual as others from my world. There's a man who throws himself in a pit of healing water every time he gets too old.

Your world has a pit of healing water?
Why doesn't everyone use it?

It does drive a man insane.
There is also the added requirement that you are friends with said immortal. He's had a lock on those for some time, as far as I've been able to tell.
Not that I've bothered looking, you understand. No need.

We don't have that where I'm from. No abundance of immortals or youth fountains.

But you do have them? You don't seem surprised by the concept.

Hard to be surprised by anything after this world.

Perhaps.
It is a rather astounding sort of place, isn't it?

I guess. At least it's different. Been here long?

Four years, yes.
I never thought four years could be a long time.

Long by these standards, so I hear.

Quite so, yes.
And yet it feels no more real than when I arrived.

Might be nice to stay a while. Only been here a few months. 4 years is doable, done time longer than time.

Your world must offer little, then, if you're not concerned with returning.
Personally, I miss my Opal far too much, now.

Where?
[He seriously can't think of any Opal he's ever visited.]

East coast. She's the lone bright spot in the entire seaboard, but it doesn't exist in most worlds.

Yeah. Didn't exist in my world.
You want to go home?

Of course I do! My life is there, my home, my flowers...

Foolish people, perhaps.
Myself? I'm looking forward to the day I can finally step back to Opal's streets.

Four years is just an extended visit. Not so bad.
