[ A delivery is made to Jack's room at the Hotel - a package, rather messily-wrapped in newspaper. Within is a vegan cookbook, one with each recipe accompanied by fancy photography and overly-verbose prose from the author and chef. Oh, and every last recipe calls for truffle oil for no goddamned reason.
When and if Jack opens the book, a plain white piece of card paper will fall out with a note written in a messy hand:
Just in case you wanted a hobby other than bingo or naps xoxoxo John ]
[UGGGGGH you disgusting sap. Jack's just going to use it as a display piece because there's no way he can cook anything with his stock of absolutely no food that he keeps in his room.
Maybe John can buy him a whole load of food next Christmas. And also the enthusiasm to cook.]
the united states of america is in uproar. nationwide blackouts, cryptic threats on the internet, germans in the prisons. and of course, when jack lands wide-winged and forEVEr stoic on the balcony of kavinsky's maurtia falls apartment, all he's after is meat for the dinosaur. kavinsky's had served up a side of exasperation first, of course-- a roll of his eyes before he acquiesced. said he'd be right back.
but when he emerges into the cold and dark afterward, he's carrying none of the supplies offered. the only meat in evidence is his own naked frame, pale in the dark, except for the socks on his feet and the new tattoos marching the longest bones of his fingers. dream thief. the frigid cold of the winter doesn't seem to bother him, or not yet.
Edited (i accidentally backed out of this form and then lazarus didnt gimme the subject header back originally) 2017-01-24 05:46 (UTC)
Nothing is ever simple when Kavinsky is involved, Jack has already learnt that much but then again he's a quick learner. It's why he lands at the balcony with a request and expecting anything but what he's asked for. He's prepared for stupidity, resigning himself to it as his wings fold away, vanishing into his back like they never existed.
Granted he's not entirely prepared for nakedness, especially in this climate, and yet the sight really isn't anything new.
The whole presentation gets little more than a cursory once over, his eyes finally settling lower down as he gives his ever judging stare.
"Am I supposed to feed her that? Not enough meat."
[by now, kavinsky is a familiar sight to most of the staff at dr. chilton's psychiatric hospital for abnormal conditions. he's as familiar as he is out-of-place, parking his jewel-red ferrari among the ordinary vehicles in the lot, strutting out with giant sunglasses perched on his nose, six dollar triple shot latte in hand, a polo shirt to fend off the sun from his delicate white pallor. he's somehow simultaneously nothing like he used to be, and also more than he ever was.
he's polite to the nurses when he walks in. tells the one working at check-in that he ordered in some donuts. by now, most of the staff have started to buy into the idea that he's no longer the vicious little shit who'd bitten through donovan's hand two months ago, earlier in therapy, when there would be guards in the room with dr. chilton and he. guards who are still getting physical rehab for their injuries. but kavinsky still looks young; it's believable enough that treatment would work.
and he's clever enough to circumvent doubts about poisoned baked goods by paying caterers.
but not even kavinsky, mastermind edition, can anticipate all the twists!! the multiverse will throw at you. as he walks past donovan's old station, he stops to stare at a familiar old face.]
[It's not long since Jack's return, gone a month in this world but barely a few hours in his own. The ping pong back and forth is inconvenient but little more, and if he was being entirely honest, Jack was glad to be back in this hell hole compared to the monotony of his own world, he deserved this vacation of super heroes and multi-universes, even if it did include little shits like the one rocking up to his station.
There's a moment or two of slow blinking from Jack, staring through the Kavinsky before him as if trying to process the correct social response to this situation. His interest lies far more in the changes he sees and senses than any bland hello, but staring in silence for an eternity isn't going to propel this interaction into finishing any faster than if he just got on with the expected normalities.]
Hi. [He starts off nice and simple, staring at a point directly behind the teen's head like he can see through it.] I was on vacation... I'm back now.
[This is a random message that seems to have been addressed to Chilton's Mental Health reception services but since the inmates are running the prison it somehow might have bounced to you?]
